"We were betting," says Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda of the first-week sales of his group's debut, 'Hybrid Theory.' "Our guesses were only a small fraction of what it turned out to be." With the help of the metal-plus-sample hit 'One Step Closer,' the Southern California quintet exceeded all expectations, entering the Billboard chart at Number Sixteen. To celebrate, Shinoda-along with guitarist Rob Bourdon-spent some time at the craps tables of Las Vegas' Aladdin Hotel, where the boys' wagering skills didn't improve any. Says crap- out king Shinoda: "I don't think we're doing too good betting right now."
