@lpunderground tweeted about the Linkin Park 8-Bit Rebellion Game and info on how lpuers can TEST IT! :

Awesome news for people living near LA!

Adam also posted this:

I HOPE ALL THE LPUERS CAN PLAY IT!

In general..I wish it would come out already :)

Edit: Looks like all the lpuers cannot play it. Seems like Apple is very strict on that. Anyway Adam posted this just a few minutes ago: LPU members in Hong Kong and Berlin! We're working on bringing an 8-Bit Rebellion LPU testing event to YOU! Info coming soon!

New LP.com in Beta

Friday, January 8, 2010

All LPU members can now access the new linkinpark.com in beta, it will be released to everyone next week but for now LPUers check your inboxs for your access link. There is also a welcome message from Mike which will we get for you once LP.com goes public.

The website is like a huge social network for LP fans, like the Music For Relief website that was launched last year, there is also some shots from the LP game in header, I've seen Joe Hahn's Joyroom and Casino Le Chaz so far.

EDIT: We've made a group for the Mike Shinoda Clan here including a feed for our updates, feel free to join :)

Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Chat transcript here.
We've just been in the LPU chat with Mike, heres a roundup of what he told us:

The Ipod/ Iphone game:

  • The game takes place in low resolution where you defeat an organisation that wants people to use high resolution.
  • Should be out in January
  • There will be A NEW SONG at the end of the game.
New LP album:
  • Fewer but longer songs
  • Artwork for the new album is already in progress and will be the best artwork yet.
  • Theres a mix of Mike and Chester on the next album and one of the songs have a lot of rapping in them
  • Will probably be explicit
  • Lots of topics covered
  • He wont confirm that Rick Rubin will be producing the album
  • There could be instrumental parts on the album
Other news:
  • May be some fan packages with DSPs available soon
  • They'll discuss the possibility of another LPU tour before they tour the next album.
  • No plans for a Fort Minor album hes channeling his Fort Minor energy in new LP album
  • Mikeshinoda.com is moving to wordpress to make it easier to use and connect with the web.
  • It is unlikely that they will play much of the older (HTEP) stuff at shows.
  • Mike sang and did the beat on a Cypress Hill track for their new album.
  • Mike has a set of iGoogle headers coming out soon.
  • He said he might put up the tracks he did for the VMAs on mikeshinoda.com.
  • The new LP.com will be designed around the game and LPU members will be asked to beta-test it soon.
We will get the transcript up ASAP.

Looking forward to hearing the Cypress Hill track and seeing the iGoogle headers.

EDIT: We got the chat transcript! View here.

LPU9 Official Announcement

Posted on the LPU:

Linkin Park has announced a December 3rd release date for LPU9: DEMOS, a special rarities album available with a membership to the band's fan club, the Linkin Park Underground. The album and membership package can be purchased together at www.lpunderground.com and at select Best Buy locations and includes a t-shirt, patch, and other exclusive merchandise items.

LPU9: DEMOS features nine unreleased demo versions of some of the band’s biggest hits, including “Faint,” “Breaking The Habit,” and “Leave Out All The Rest.” Also included is “Across The Line,” a previously unreleased song recorded during the Minutes To Midnight studio sessions. Fans also get “Morning After (acoustic),” from frontman Chester Bennington’s side project, Dead By Sunrise (as an exclusive download).

“Songs change constantly over the course of the creative process, so we thought it’d be cool to share early versions of familiar tracks,” says Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda. “The versions in this collection represent important moments in the evolution of each song: different vocals, music variations, and missing parts. They're snapshots of our works-in-progress."

Since its formation in 2001, the LPU’s reach has extended worldwide to form a tight global community. The band has maintained a strong direct bond throughout, and every year they design special merchandise and release music exclusively to LPU members.

Fans first heard the new song, “Across The Line,” during online video episodes ("LPTV"). Originally entitled "Japan," fans sought out the song for years, but the band had never released it. In response to fan feedback, the band decided to finish the song and make it available as a highlight of LPU9.

"The LPU is a movement," says guitarist Brad Delson. "Their support of the band is inspiring. So we try to give back to them whenever we can. When we heard that they had been talking about 'Across The Line,' we knew we had to make it available for them."

The LPU has enabled fans worldwide to interact with members of the band, meeting them at exclusive LP Underground meet & greet signings (held at almost every Linkin Park show), or chatting with them online at exclusive chats through the fan club members-only website, www.lpunderground.com. In past years, the band has offered free concert tickets to fan club members, cast them as extras in a music video (“Faint”), and flown them out for rehearsal sessions. The site also provides fans with exclusive news, presales, contests, photos, video, and more. The fan club consistently strives to offer more to its members through website innovations, creative content, and engaging contests and giveaways. For more information, please go to www.lpunderground.com.

The full track listing for LPU9: DEMOS is as follows:

1 – “A-Six” (Original Long Version 2002)
2 – “Faint” (Demo 2002)
3 – “Sad” ("By Myself" Demo 1999)
4 – “Fear” ("Leave Out All the Rest" Demo 2006)
5 – “Figure.09” (Demo 2002)
6 – “Stick And Move” ("Runaway" Demo 1998)
7 – “Across The Line” (Unreleased Demo 2007)
8 – “Drawing” ("Breaking The Habit" Demo 2002)
9 – “Drum Song” ("Little Things Give You Away" Demo 2006)

Linkin Park is currently in the studio preparing a new album for release in 2010.

NOTE: THE LPU9 PACKAGE AT BEST BUY WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE IN A LARGE SHIRT SIZE.

So if you're like me and you were searching for the LPU9 package at Best Buy in a smaller size...you WON'T find one. I've been at 5 different Best Buy stores searching for a smaller shirt size, just found out today that there won't be a smaller size at Best Buy! -_-''

Thanks to Kathy for the tip!

LPU 9 Package Available!

Sunday, November 22, 2009

Not in all Best Buy stores, but I saw on the LPUMB that it's in SOME Best Buy stores, the person who already bought theirs lives in central NY, so if you live there go to your Best Buy and check if they have the LPU 9 Package!
I'm currently in NY now, I'll try my best to get the package! Best of luck to all of you! Remember, it's not available yet to purchase on the LPU site, just in some Best Buy stores.

pegasusrocks says to (12:41):
Please be patient. Chat will start soon.
darknessovrme says to (12:41):

pegasusrocks says to (12:42):
Make sure to pay attention. Darkness will let everyone know when it is time to post.
darknessovrme says to (12:42):
do not post out of turn
darknessovrme says to (12:42):
Mike whenever your ready let me know
mshinoda says to (12:42):
Nice LPU9 chatroom skin

mshinoda says to (12:42):
sure, lets go

darknessovrme says to (12:42):
Mike is using green do not use it
darknessovrme says to (12:42):
Letter W post
mshinoda says to (12:43):
don't use green, it'll help me see your questions...and not get them confused with mine

whythedarkness says to pegasusrocks (12:43):
Hi Mike. Hope you?re well! Thank you so much for taking the time to talk to us; it means more to me than I can say. My question is: how do you cope with pressure to swim with the current when all you want to do is swim against it and how do you stay...
mshinoda says to (12:43):
I learned to swim when I was little. Diving too.

williamlp says to mshinoda (12:44):
Hey mike, thank you for making awesome music and art... Will the new album consist of any music that we definatly would not expect from you guys??
mshinoda says to (12:45):
The new stuff is pretty unusual so far. You'll have to hear it to understand. Different sounds (guitar, drums, bass, keyboards, etc), and new approaches to writing the songs

walkdifferent says to (12:44):
Good afternoon Mike, what moments in your life have helped confirm some of your strongest held beliefs? Thank you.
mshinoda says to (12:47):
defining moments: I suppose going to college, my first job (packing fruit and vegetables in a produce warehouse), and writing and recording Hybrid Theory and Minutes To Midnight.

darknessovrme says to (12:46):
X post your questions

Xris24 says to (12:46):
Hey mike! based on what criteria do you guys decide on which countries you are going to perform?
mshinoda says to (12:48):
We decide where to tour based on a lot of things. I don't know all of them off hand, but obviously the size of the crowd (draw) and the impact of the show in its location rank pretty high.

XxbrokenangelxX says to (12:47):
Hey Mike! When it comes to musical influnces are there any artists out now that catch your attention? if so would you like to work with them? Lots of Love from India
mshinoda says to (12:50):
musical influences: NWA, Public Enemy, Depeche Mode, U2, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Metallica, Aphex Twin, Bjork...
mshinoda says to (12:50):
awesome to see the fans from India representing right now, BTW

xCaboose117x says to (12:47):
Mike, I just wanna say the singing you did on Fear and The Little Things Give Youy Away (Demo) was amazing. Heres my question. Across the Line seems to be very popular with the fanbase. Even though it did not make the Minutes to Midnight album, any chance
xCaboose117x says to (12:47):
that it will be played live one day?
mshinoda says to (12:50):
let Caboose finish their questions please...
mshinoda says to (12:50):
nevermind, just saw it.
mshinoda says to (12:51):
I don't have any idea if it will be played live. It will have to compete for a setlist spot vs. all our singles and the song from the new album though...

darknessovrme says to (12:50):
Y and Z post

zackj2245 says to (12:50):
Mike do you think there will be more of your vocals on the new album?
mshinoda says to (12:52):
More of my vocals on new album: I have no idea. Sorry!

zara19 says to (12:52):
Hi Mike, on the songs that you've completed for the album do you rap on them or does Chester take the lead vocals? Thanks for chatting with us, Zara from the Mike Shinoda Clan
mshinoda says to (12:53):
We're working on 5 songs in particular right now. One has a lot of rapping. Chester and I sing back and forth on one. We sing together on one, and he sings the other two.
mshinoda says to (12:53):
Oops, I suppose we sing together on two. He sings one alone.
mshinoda says to (12:53):
That's just 5 songs, though!

zuf says to (12:53):
Hi mike, why didn't you put across the line in mtm? it's a great song in my opinion
mshinoda says to (12:54):
Across the Line just baaarely missed the cut. If there were 12 songs, I think it was #13.

darknessovrme says to (12:54):
numbers, symbols, and letter A post and only those post

mshinoda says to (12:54):
Do you guys want to know a few secrets?
mshinoda says to (12:54):
LOL

linkinjess says to (12:54):
yes :)
pegasusrocks says to (12:54):
Secrets? YES
mshinoda says to (12:55):
You know about the iPhone game we're doing, right?

pegasusrocks says to (12:55):
Yes.........
mshinoda says to (12:55):
The game is for the iPhone and iPod touch. The story is this:
mshinoda says to (12:56):
The game takes place in a world that used to be all "low resolution." 8-bit and lower...
mshinoda says to (12:57):
Then an evil corporation arrived, and they've brainwashed everyone to buy higher resolution. They are called PixxelKorp. A small rebellion has begun, to fight against PixxelKorp. You (the player) may be our only hope to combat the evil!
mshinoda says to (12:58):
As you get through the game,
mshinoda says to (12:59):
It's laid out like an RPG style game, but it's got a strong social community aspect. You can talk to all your friends playing, and play together. You solve various missions to fight PixxelKorp.
mshinoda says to (12:59):
If you finish the whole 1st mission, you get something AWESOME.
mshinoda says to (13:00):
(I'll answer some more questions now)

1rolphb says to mshinoda (12:55):
MIke, Do You Have A Release Date Or Title For The New CD?
mshinoda says to (13:00):
Release date for new album: asap!
mshinoda says to (13:00):
2010, as soon as it's done.

Aditya_the_warrior_within says to XxbrokenangelxX (12:56):
hey Mike ! Aditya here from India. can you tell us more about the origin of 'Across The Line'. also will the new record coming out next year will have a 'making of ___' dvd with it? thanks a lot for chatting with us !!
mshinoda says to (13:01):
Across The Line was in progress around the same time as most of the songs from MTM. No More Sorrow, LOATR, LTGYA, etc.

darknessovrme says to (12:57):
B post

br0wnst3r says to (12:58):
Hey Mike, do you think you'll ever make a follow-up record with Fort Minor?
mshinoda says to (13:01):
Fort Minor music: I'm trying to channel that stuff into the new LP album.

BlackChester says to mshinoda (12:59):
Hey Mike, first of all, your new DCs featuring Joe feel great. Will you be at some european festivals next year? MLK.com just declined, that you'll be at Rock am Ring. Greets from bc.de j-k.de and LPR.net (we met in berlin last year)
mshinoda says to (13:03):
European festivals (performances) - nothing scheduled yet. If anyone is saying we're confirmed on a bill...we're not. LinkinPark.com will always be the most reliable source for that info.

darknessovrme says to (13:02):
C post your question 1 time and 1 time only

colinlpu says to darknessovrme (13:03):
Q: Hi Mike. Out of any demos you, or the rest of the band have made, have you ever felt it should have been progressed more before being either voted out or at the time you felt it wasn't "your sound"?
mshinoda says to (13:03):
OK...
mshinoda says to (13:04):
Are you saying did any demos "make the cut" that I didn't like? Not really. For the most part, it's just a matter of liking it at the time. Some songs I liked more when we wrote them than I do now, but you can only do your best :)

cavpollo says to (13:03):
If you could tweak a LP song little bit to give it a fresh new 'look'(like Reanimation, gr8 album btw), which one would u pick?(and what would be the change?) [btw, tanx 4 signin' my LPST price =P, hopefully will see u someday on Guatemala. Keep up the good work.
mshinoda says to (13:05):
Remixing: I liked "remixing" Points Of Authority and "Lying From You" for our live show. We try to take some of our older songs and make them a little more fresh, for the concert, sometimes.

Chemist999 says to Diosce (13:04):
Hello, Mike. Are you working on the artwork to the next album during the recording process, or do you leave it until the album is finished?
mshinoda says to (13:06):
The artwork for the new album is already in progress. It's going to be the best artwork we've had yet.

darknessovrme says to (13:06):
D post your questions

Dirudown says to Hahninator (13:06):
Hey Mike, What can we expect with the new site layouts for mikeshinoda.com and linkinpark.com? greetings from switzerland BTWv (lplive.net)
mshinoda says to (13:07):
We're moving linkinpark.com to the Ning network, and mikeshinoda.com is moving to wordpress. That doesn't affect the "look" a ton, but it's just to say that we're trying to make our network a little more
mshinoda says to (13:07):
...easy to connect to from/with other places on the web

DrBiggy says to (13:07):
Have You ever thought of playing old stuff from the HTEP like High Voltage, And One and so on live again? Greets from lplive.net
mshinoda says to (13:08):
HTEP - some of the guys don't really love playing the super old stuff. Unfortunately, the LPU loves those songs, but the average concert goer is coming to hear the more popular tracks.

Dasha says to (13:08):
Hi, Mike, you already worked with Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, John Legend and many others talented artists. Can we expect new another collaborations in the near future, and whom would you like to work with? Greetings from Ukraine(})
mshinoda says to (13:09):
Collabos - I just did a song for Cypress Hill that might end up on their new album, coming soon. I sang on it and did the beat (no rapping!)

darknessovrme says to (13:09):
E post your questions

EvoOba says to (13:09):
Hey Mike! What?s up? Are you planning to do another art show in 2010 or any time soon? You mentioned something about taking your art outside LA. I?m dying to see new pieces from your art. Btw what do you want for xmas? Greetings from Greece, Eva
mshinoda says to (13:10):
I'd love to do an art show outside LA. I'm going to try, but the album comes first right now...
mshinoda says to (13:10):
Xmas: I want a new blog design.

Erock says to (13:10):
Have you guys ever attempted to recapture the vibes emotions and overall impact some of your great songs have had, and redirect that on newer material? For example the intensity you and chester have on LFY or F.09, or the emotions behind LTGYA...
mshinoda says to (13:12):
We always try to capture that emotion on every recording. If you're not hearing that, I suppose we're not doing a good job.
mshinoda says to (13:12):
LOL

darknessovrme says to (13:11):
F post your questoins
darknessovrme says to (13:11):
questions*

mshinoda says to (13:13):
SIDE NOTE: For people interested in my art / prints...we semi-secretly just put up a batch of my signed, numbered prints at SURU-LA. Spread the word.

frgt10_LP says to (13:12):
Hi Mike!12 songs will be on the new lp's album or more?
mshinoda says to (13:13):
# of songs on new LP album: I think there might be fewer songs, and they might be longer songs. Not sure though

Filofax says to (13:12):
Yo Mike hope your well, Will there be another remix album like Reanimation? As I really enjoy listening to that album!!
mshinoda says to (13:14):
Remixes: no plans right now. Again, I hope to re-work some of our older stuff next time we go out on tour (for the live show).

darknessovrme says to (13:13):
G post your questions

GraDoN says to (13:14):
Hi Mike greetings from South Africa, Minutes to Midnight was the first Linkin Park album containing explicit lyrics just want to know if you guys are continuing that and what topics are you exploring lyrically now? Thanks a lot for your awesome music!
mshinoda says to (13:15):
Explicit - yep, probably some cursing. Topics: anything that comes up!

Gabo says to linkingabo (13:14):
hey MIKE! will we get any more songs for download download like ''LOCKJAW'' or something special for LPU?
mshinoda says to (13:16):
Downloads / new music. Maybe the iPhone game will contain something you might be interested in...

Greg_B says to (13:15):
Hi mike, thanks for taking the time to stop by the LPU. I was wondering, are you guys working with Rick Ruben on the new album or a different producer?
mshinoda says to (13:16):
We haven't officially confirmed that Rick will be producing the next album :)

darknessovrme says to (13:16):
H post your questions

Hahninator says to (13:16):
Hey Mike! Rob said in the last chat that you guys plan to make older live recordings available to us. Can you give us more details about them and how far they reach back? Thanks! -LPLive.net
mshinoda says to (13:17):
I think we are going to be make EVERY SHOW in the last tour available. That's over 100 shows.
mshinoda says to (13:17):
= over 100 albums
mshinoda says to (13:17):
there might be some fan packages, etc. for the superfans who are interested.

hybrid_lp says to (13:17):
Hello Mike, I would like to ask about "Across The Line" ( - which is really awesome, by the way :)) - we can hear Chester's and someone else's voice in it. So who is it ? ... It doesn't sound like You... Am I wrong? ;) Greets! Monica from Poland
mshinoda says to (13:18):
I think Across The Line is all Chester's voice, although I often do the rough vocal as we're writing it, and sometimes we leave some of my vocals in. Not sure on that one.
mshinoda says to (13:18):
Definitely not anyone but me and Chester, tho

Holden says to 0000 (13:18):
Hey Mike! My question is: Will LP ever do another LPUnderground tour again? Thanks for chatting with us!
mshinoda says to (13:19):
LPU Tour: haven't discussed it yet. We'll definitely talk about it before the next tour.
mshinoda says to (13:20):
We're trying to do things for LPU that are far-reaching, since the community is world wide. A show for 150 people is awesome, but there are so many people who will never get to see that, it kinda sucks for everyone else.
mshinoda says to (13:20):
But it's great for the 150!

darknessovrme says to (13:19):
I and J post

jopeace says to (13:20):
Hey Mike! Aside from the mass amounts of balloons, what else do you guys do in the recording studio to help get your creative juices flowing? Thanks, from Leetah in Victoria, Canada! :)
mshinoda says to (13:21):
Creative stimulation: we've been in the studio a lot more, and things can get pretty free-form. Just jamming on each others' instruments, freestyling songs, recording everything.
mshinoda says to (13:22):
It can be a lot of junk, but we listen for little gems that might work their way into one of the songs. Besides, it's great practice.

JanekZech says to mshinoda (13:20):
Hey Mike, what about playing the whole Hybrid Theory album live next year to celebrate its 10th anniversary? (lplive.net)
mshinoda says to (13:22):
Playing HT live: I want to wait until the 25th anniversary LOL

pegasusrocks says to (13:23):
LOL

ISA says to (13:22):
Hey Mike! Is there any topic you would never write a song about? and still going with the Da-Na method when trying to get new lyrics with Chester? Greetings from Barcelona.
mshinoda says to (13:24):
We've been moving from singing da-na-na on tracks to a new approach: singing fake words. Just letting your mouth go and seeing what nonsense comes out. It's pretty surprising.

KATHYxx says to (13:23):
Hey Mike, When Soundscan said that Hybrid Theory is the 7th top selling album of the decade, does it still knock you off your feet or have you found your bearings on that kind of news yet? thanks for visiting.
mshinoda says to (13:24):
7th? What's 1-6? ha
mshinoda says to (13:24):
Not being ***y, BTW. I just never realized that (as you said).
mshinoda says to (13:25):
not being arrogant, rather

kay86 says to XaGiCo (13:24):
Hey Mike! Its Kay from Linkin Park Spain. By releasing the audio of EVERY SHOW from last tour, do you mean you are going to release even the audio from the festival gigs that havent been released as DSP?? Thanks!!
mshinoda says to (13:26):
Live shows / festivals - If we didn't release audio for a show, it's almost always because the venue or show promoter made it difficult or impossible to do so.
mshinoda says to (13:27):
They may have prohibited it, or they may have demanded so much money for the rights that we were not able to make it an option (barring charging you guys $100 or $1000 for a CD, ha)

Hola mike! I wanted to ask you if you plan to design LPU10 because we fans want your personal, artistic touch on it! xo Ana of the Phoenix Farrell Fansite aka. I heart PHX shirt owner.
mshinoda says to (13:28):
LPU10 design? I think I'll stick to designing mikeshinoda.com. I DO have a set of iGoogle headers coming out, BTW. In case some of you use iGoogle.

lilyjulia says to (13:27):
hey mike, we're longing for more lptv-episodes, especially from the summer09tour, can we expect some more to come? thanks for chatting with us! :)
mshinoda says to (13:28):
LPTV will start revving up in early 2010.

LmariaP says to (13:28):
Hello Mike!Thank you so much for being here tonight answering our questions!Well, how does it feel when critics strongly disapprove of your work into which you?ve spent a lot of effort and time? Can it make you stronger or the opposite? greetings from Greece
mshinoda says to (13:29):
Critics will be critical. We can't sweat what we can't change.
mshinoda says to (13:29):
Rolling Stone gave HT 2.5 stars our of 5, I think. Then they practically apologized for the review many years later, which was exceptionally nice. Most magazines aren't that way.

Hey Mike! Do you think you could release some songs from "Xero" that havn't been heard yet, or some info about any Xero songs that no one knows about? What do you think about people downloading your albums? - From Matt Andrews in Toronto
mshinoda says to (13:30):
Xero songs - I don't have any for you to hear. I do have some other older demos though...maybe someday :)
mshinoda says to (13:31):
My stance on downloading is a little too complicated for here. It's on mikeshinoda.com though.

mshinoda says to (13:35):
MikeSnatkin: I don't have any insight into the "LPU specials" coming up

Margherita says to (13:31):
Hi I'm Margherita from Italy... What about your last nomination for the GRAMMY? God bless you
mshinoda says to (13:36):
GRAMMY nomination for What Ive Done live was cool. We're in the same catergory with album tracks by those other artists. I guess that says something good about our live show!

MalFUNct10N says to (13:31):
Hello Mike, great job with LPU9! I love it! I read your blog post the other day, which was about ProTools8 bugs and I wanted to ask you if this issue is going to slow down the new album process! Thanks a lot Mike, greetings from Greece!
mshinoda says to (13:34):
Digidesign just called our engineer back. They weren't able to fix the problem because it might have something to do with 3rd party plug ins. We're still working on it.

Hey Mike! Mark Fiore has been using some unreleased 2005 VMA score clips in recent LPTV episodes - do you think those have a chance of being released in full sometime? Greets from -LPLive.net- and -LinkinPark.it- :)
mshinoda says to (13:36):
I think those VMA songs are online, no? I can put them up on ms.com, I suppose.

NoFace says to (13:35):
Mike, as an inspiration to many young artists, what would you say to people who are struggling with their creativity force, artistic integrity and kicking-in real in order to be true with their art? What would you say if I ask you ?I need a sign.?
mshinoda says to (13:38):
NoFace: a few things I'd recommend: study your craft, learn from your favorite artists = don't re-invent the wheel. Then, define your own thing, and stick to it.

darknessovrme says to (13:36):

OddTree says to (13:38):
Hi Mike :D Where did some of Linkin Park?s more... random song names come from? (Figure.09, Sold My Soul to Yo Mama, Papercut, etc.) Were they just working titles you guys decided to keep? -Aud ?
mshinoda says to (13:38):
Yes, they were working titles!
mshinoda says to (13:39):
Faint, too.

Orangefish says to (13:39):
Hey Mike! Have you planned something new for the live shows? Like Pyro-Technic or a light show? Maybe you guys do more crowd-surfing or something like that? Please let us know! Thanks for beeing here today, Germany loves you, Denise:)
mshinoda says to (13:39):
It's too early to tell what the live show will be like, but I imagine it will involve playing songs.

PinkWater3 says to (13:40):
Hi Mike. All the instrumentals that you've released over the years are fantastic and had a great response. Have you ever thought of putting up an all instrumental album?
mshinoda says to (13:41):
I like instrumentals sometimes. We'll see. There could also be instrumental parts within new songs...not sure yet!

PinkSoldier9 says to (13:40):
Hey Mike, i was amazed after listening to Fear on the LPU9 cd so i was wondering, was it easy or difficult to change that song's style completely? is there any chance u guys could record that version as a Bside on the next record? Greetings from Peru!
mshinoda says to (13:42):
The evolution from "fear" to LOATR was a pretty standard evolution, for us. Most of our songs start as one thing, then change as we work on them, until they sound right. Not that Fear is bad, it's just undercooked (to me).
mshinoda says to (13:43):
But there's a beauty in that undercooked-ness that we wanted you guys to hear. Nobody ever gets to hear it but us, usually
mshinoda says to (13:43):
usually.

Hi Mike! Firstly i want to thank you for coming to Turkey this year(: here is my question..
How do the new lyrics sound? did you determine any concept for the songs or you just write what you currently feel?
mshinoda says to (13:43):
The new lyrics are all about Phoenix playing Golf.

sckofelng says to (13:46):
Hey Mike! I totally love Across The Line, pity that it didnt make the album. Can you tell us who came up with the lyrics and instrumentals for it? Greets from LPLive.net
mshinoda says to (13:47):
Across the Line was written by all of us. The majority of the music came from two separate demos I did at my house. Chester and I did the vocals and lyrics.

snoopy23 says to (13:46):
Hi Mike, Are there any songs/music that you and the guys have made in the past that were not used that keep coming back to be worked on again? Thanks Mike for chatting with us! :$ Lauren aka: Cherry red
mshinoda says to (13:48):
There's one song we've resurrected that I sing on, that's back in the mix. You guys haven't heard about it. I don't know if it's going to be good or not. Time will tell!

SergSlim says to (13:47):
Hey Mike, we have the 5 MTV.com VMA score songs released in '05. But I think there are few unreleased ones. How about all of them together in lossless format on ms.com? LPLive.net
mshinoda says to (13:49):
MTV songs - we'll see.

darknessovrme says to (13:49):

mshinoda says to (13:51):
The new linkinpark.com (coming asap) is going to be "themed" for the new Linkin Park game. LPU wlll be the 1st to preview it and beta test it!
mshinoda says to (13:51):

KITTYBETTY says to Gotik_LP (12:08):
mike what you think of the new cd from dead by sunrise?

mshinoda says to (12:09):
DBS: its great

JanekZech says to mshinoda (12:09):
Yo Mike, will we ever hear the MTM b-sides? Thanks!

mshinoda says to (12:09):
MTM b-sides: maybe someday. No concrete plans yet

Ju_Ki_Ba90 says to (12:09):
Hey MiKe! how are you? Congrats at first! You are an amazing artist!!!! which one is your favourite painting? I love all of them..lol.. take care!

mshinoda says to (12:10):
Paintings: I don't have a favorite. Theyre like children

KATHYxx says to (12:10):
Mike, what do your song seeds sound like in general? Do you consider them an evolution of Minutes to Midnight or is it a whole new bird? Thanks for visiting.

mshinoda says to (12:11):
The new songs are their own thing...they sound pretty different. I know we kinda said that last time (and it was true then), but it might be even more true now.

kementari says to (12:10):
Hi, Mike do you intend to make more art galleries like glorious excess? if so, which themes you have in mind, and how do you define the death of the glxs's skull?

mshinoda says to (12:11):
Art: so far, I've been doing about one per year

keineAhnung says to (12:11):
Hi! what was the hardest part of creating glorious excess (dies)?...and thx for posting all those amazing pics on your blog! ...Love them!

LPrnway says to (12:13):
hey Mike, congrats on the art show! :) will you put in your site the video documentary showing your process of working on the art pieces after the exhibit is over?greetings from Greece!

mshinoda says to (12:14):
The GLXS video piece turned out really great, I think. I'm trying to see if we can get it placed anywhere. Maybe Current TV, maybe some places online. I hope to put it up on my site in a few weeks so more people can see it

LpRocker88 says to (12:13):
Do you forsee another Fort Minor project in the future besides placing that FM energy into the upcoming LP record like stated in interviews?

linkinandjayziskickass says to (12:13):
when will we begin getting more news about the linkin park record? can you tell us anything about it that we may not know?

mshinoda says to (12:14):
FM ideas = new LP ideas

lorenex7 says to (12:13):
Hey Mike, You have a lot of talent for the Art, have you ever thought of working with Artists tattooer? Or draw drawings to be tattooed ?
Thank you Mike, I love you guys. Linkin Park Forever. Lorene From France

mshinoda says to (12:15):
Tattoo: not really. I helped design Phoenix's tattoos, that's about it.
mshinoda says to (12:16):
I always tell people: I can't get a tattoo, beacuse a.) I would probably hate it shortly after it was done, and b.) I'm not really a half-assed kind of person; once I got one, I would have to get 100...

MandysFriend says to (12:15):
thx for all that you create and share with us, the fans. but, how would you feel if someone were to get a tattoo of YOUR artwork (GLXS,etc)? creeped out, violated, impressed, proud, anything, nothing?

mshinoda says to (12:17):
I see people with our art tattooed on them. If that's for you, then it's all good. I'm not a huge fan of people copying other peoples' tattoos, though. Tattoos are supposed to be a personal expression...so biting someone else's is kinda like plagiarism
mshinoda says to (12:17):
but then again, I guess there are even excpetions to that!

moniku says to (12:16):
Hi Mike! You used a great blend of both digital and traditional media in your Glorious Excess pieces. Do you think you can live without one or the other at this point, while getting your full idea across in your artwork still?

mshinoda says to (12:17):
I like painting and I like making music. I hope to continue to do both whenever the ideas strike me

Mr_Delson says to (12:17):
Hi Mike! You are really successful person. Do you have any other goals you was not able to reach?

mshinoda says to (12:18):
goals: to redo my website / blog
mshinoda says to (12:18):
FYI, we're going to be re-doing all our websites in the near future.

noa says to (12:18):
Hi Mike, what would you say to those people who think LP died with MTM, do you think you will recover that fans with the new CD? Noa from Linkin Park Spain Magazine.

mshinoda says to (12:19):
MTM: I love all our albums.
mshinoda says to (12:20):
We make music that feels good to us, and hope you guys are on board for the journey

NoFace says to (12:19):
Hey Mike, of all the forms of art you have been working on, which artwork do you consider the magnum opus of your lifetime, till now? Have your muse ever played hide and seek with you?

mshinoda says to (12:21):
our magnum opus is "26 lettaz"

Orangefish says to (12:20):
Hey Mike, I was at GLXS (Born), and it was awesome! You was so relaxed! When I would start an Artshow, I would be really nervous. Do you have a special warm up? Greetings from Germany, Denise.

mshinoda says to (12:21):
special warmup: stretching

PinkyLouloulp says to (12:21):
In Glorious Excess ''Dies'' we can see a variety of bright colours, pink for example. Does it interpretate something since we are talking for a ''funeral''?

mshinoda says to (12:22):
GLXS colors: those colors reference the tabloid media more than the funeral aspect

phill715 says to (12:21):
Hey Mike, why is it that you are the only one that ever posts on the LPU message boards?

mshinoda says to (12:22):
posting on LPU: because I am more awesome

PoLyAttAck says to (12:22):
Hi,Mike. What is it that you really have against twitter? os is it just because pheonix is on it?

mshinoda says to (12:23):
Twitter: I didn't start it. Phoenix did.

pegasusrocks says to (12:22):
^:)

mshinoda says to (12:23):
But I'll finish it! LOL

raaaaphy says to (12:23):
Hey Mike! Do you use instruments on the new record you have never used before? Thanks

mshinoda says to (12:23):
New instruments: I'm actually trying to downsize
mshinoda says to (12:24):
There are too many options. I want to pick a few favorites and see how far I can tweak those...but one of them is my MPC, so I guess that's pretty versatile

Raiden says to Anene (12:23):
Hey Mike! What can you tell us about the new SURU x DC Life Sneaker what was at the show? Greetings from Hungary.

mshinoda says to (12:24):
MS / SURU / DC shoe is going to be super super limited. Only 500 pairs in the world, ever. Available at Suru and mikeshinoda.com
mshinoda says to (12:24):
soon I think

spoiled_suk says to (12:24):
hey mike! what was your reaction to the success of glorious excess (born/dies)? thanks for chatting :]

rde says to (12:23):
Do you have any special goals as an artist? Was setting up your own art show the biggest dream you had or are you aiming at something bigger? PS. Thank you for signing my shoe in Finland!

scottdaniels says to (12:24):
Mike Whats Your Favorite Part About Glorious Excess That You Like Doing Every Year and How has Glorious Excess Evolved over the Years ?

simplis says to (12:25):
Have you thought about making an art show with much more private subject open for interpretation?

mshinoda says to (12:25):
the GLXS DIES reaction has been huge! I guess exactly what I would have hoped for
mshinoda says to (12:25):
Always nice to hear nice things about a creative project.
mshinoda says to (12:25):
stop using green!
mshinoda says to (12:26):
I'm missing your comments.

mshinoda says to (12:26):
I'm done with GLXS. It was 2 shows...now, on to the next thing!

pegasusrocks says to (12:26):
Mike has dibs on neon green folks, please make sure to pick a different color to post with. Thanks!

mshinoda says to (12:27):
thanks

tinkerbella25 says to (12:26):
Hi Mike.. I was wondering, since many of us won't be able to witness GLXS in person, have you thought about bringing it somewhere else or maybe the next Projekt Rev? Thank you for coming today!!!

mshinoda says to (12:27):
I'd love to take an art show on tour, but most galleries only want to show "new" work (meaning they want to sell it)
mshinoda says to (12:28):
they can't make money on not-for-sale work, and they have high overheads to keep their doors open. It's a tough business, apparently
mshinoda says to (12:28):
I wouldn't know; I don't own an art gallery!

thegluelpfan says to (12:27):
If you had to paint yourself as part of the GLXS world, what kind of person would paint yourself as?

mshinoda says to (12:28):
self-portrait: funny you ask this. I just got asked to be a part of a self-portrait art show. more info to come on mikeshinoda.com

Thibaut says to (12:27):
Hey Mike! love your stuff! Meteora is the first CD i bought in my entire life and i'm a fan since i'm 14, good job dude you're amazing! I want to know if you could design the next LPU Tee and put some of your cool skeletons on it, or in a Music Video?

mshinoda says to (12:29):
Next LPU tee....might be a good idea. We'll see if I can make that work.
mshinoda says to (12:29):
We don't know what the packaging and stuff will look like, yet
mshinoda says to (12:30):
But we got pink and black out of our systems, so probably not that combo

williamlp says to (12:29):
Hi mike, i met u in greece at the m&g but we didn't have enough time to ask u about ur art.
my question is: will u collaborate with any other artists in the near future?(i was the kid asked you to do a skull on my drumhead)

mshinoda says to (12:30):

art collabo: absolutely!

zara19 says (12:28):
How much of your own art do you have in your house? Thanks for taking the time to chat with us.

mshinoda says to (12:30):
I have more art than some people...but less than Joe Hahn

yanying says to (12:30):Hi Mike, can we expect to see more art shows THROUGHOUT the United States (apart from LA) in the future? Thanks. :)

mshinoda says to (12:31):
I want to take my art outside LA. That's all I know right now. We'll see what I can set up!

ayza says to mshinoda (12:32):
I know it?s a little early to ask but are you gonna do something special for LP Undergrounds 10th anniversary?

mshinoda says to (12:32):
Actually, it's Hybrid Theory's 10th anniversary first, so we're trying to come up with something cool for that
mshinoda says to (12:33):

mshinoda says to (12:33):
that's a Billboard piece about the new album

ACDalgaard says to (12:32):
Do you feel any difference in the flow of your creativity when you're making visual art compared to when you're making music?

mshinoda says to (12:36):

Art / Music: I'm trying to execute the ideas in a the way that best serves them at this point. The more outlets I have, the more options I have when deciding...

_Haru_ says to (12:33):
hey mike, first off thank you because of you i started drawing and that saved my life. so my question is what is youre favorite artwork in the world? thx and hugs from switzerland

mshinoda says to (12:35):
here's a really random list of art I like: Alphonse Mucha, Vermeer, Murakami, Shepard Fairey, Egon Schiele, Banksy, Ron English, JR, Jeff Soto, Mark Dean Veca, Blu Blu, Hirst,
mshinoda says to (12:35):
etc

AET says to (12:35):
have you been told not to tell anything about LPs new album?

mshinoda says to (12:37):
LP new album: we could write 80 country songs, then write 12 gangsta rap songs. If I tell you the album sounds like country, but then we pick the last 12...you get the picture

carriemichelle says to (12:36):
I heard that you were considering the idea of putting on a charity poker tournament for MusicForRelief. If true, can you give any more details on that?

mshinoda says to (12:37):
charity poker: someday. it keeps getting moved around

BearSnugsFox says to (12:36):
Hey Mike, congrats on the art show! do you have some kinds of rituals before you start working on a piece of art? Do you consider making art a rite itself? Greets from Vietnam!

mshinoda says to (12:39):
Rituals? Only my ouija board and the sacrifice of a virgin sheep in the name of Leroy Jenkins

pegasusrocks says to (12:39):
LOL!

darknessovrme says to (12:40):
LEEEEEEEEROYYYYYYYY JENKINSSSSSSSSS yes i play WoW im a nerd

dwarf says to (12:39):
Hey Mike. Your singing is pretty awesome.
Will you sing a little bit more on the new album(or anywhere...in the future), maybe one or two songs at least?

mshinoda says to (12:39):
singing: I will sing on the new album, just for you.
mshinoda says to (12:40):
but only if i get to use my "I Am T-Pain" app on the iPhone

DXIC says to (12:39):
Hi Mike. Why were M&G rules changed? A lot of ppl don't like this system because very small amount of LPUers are chosen to attend M&G, and also because of only 2 members of the band present. Alexandr from Russia.

mshinoda says to (12:41):
LPU rules change because change is good
mshinoda says to (12:41):
ha

ewka77 says to cuzer (12:40):
Hey mike are you going to add some more guitar solos to LP songs on the next LP record? You know, maybe some progressive stuff, i'm sure that brad would be very happy then

mshinoda says to (12:40):
in what way are guitar solos progressive?
mshinoda says to (12:40):
guitar solos have been going on for eons
mshinoda says to (12:41):
LOL

Guerrero says to mshinoda (12:41):
Hi Mike! I'm Paul from Athens, GR. First of all congratulations for GLXS Dies! 4 days ago I saw at MS.com the images of your paintings! I'm very interesting to know what inspired you to paint Kurt Cobain as the "Four Seasons - Summer" painting. Thanks Mike!

mshinoda says to (12:42):
Four Seasons was a reference to Alphonse Mucha's 4 seasons. His were 4 pretty girls. Mine was the 4 seasons of celebrity martyrdom.
mshinoda says to (12:42):
Each star died in the season in which he is represented

Giannis_LP says to (12:41):
Hi Mike! Will u consider doing any art for the new LP album? If yes i hope it will be as good as Fort Minor's CD & Hybrid Theory Soldier!(I was the kid with the flames & yr face on my arms at the M&G in Greece. Tnx 4 yr pen & 4 playing A Place 4 my head!!!

Chemist999 says to (12:35):
Hello, Mike. Do you try to keep the ideas for you art like GLXS separate from those you use in your music, or have you thought of creating art that would thematically accompany LP's albums like you did with Fort Minor?

mshinoda says to (12:43):
We are already working on the art for the new LP cycle. I have NO idea where we'll end up, but we want the whole thing--music, art, live show, web, merch--to have a more solid, unique identity than ever before.

Gouda says to (12:43):
Hi Mike. How many tracks will be on the LPU 9 CD ? Greetings from Germany !

mshinoda says to (12:44):
LPU9: somewhere between 1 and 100 tracks
mshinoda says to (12:44):
on the CD

GraiggyLand says to (12:44):
Hey Mike, congrats for the new art show ! I already bought the art book but Neuphoria seems to be sold out, 25 was obviously not enough do you plan to release another limited art print from this show, maybe fireworks ?? My house is kinda Shinoda Museum

mshinoda says to (12:45):
The Neuphoria print was super limited. I may release a new print
mshinoda says to (12:45):
don't kow yet

mshinoda says to (12:45):
I just remembered that I can turn off the messaging when people enter / exit the room. Ahhh

ipek says to (12:45):
Hey Mike Will you guys change the LP logo with the new album? Sunburnt girl from Turkey.

mshinoda says to (12:46):
New logo: I kinda like the circle one. My vote is to keep it for a while. We always change logos every album...but the circle one feels like it should stick around. To me, at least

HellyGrace says to (12:47):
What do you like more - play guitar, rapping or painting?

mshinoda says to (12:47):
I like chatting more

Jess_LP says to mshinoda (12:47):
Who's winning the blog vs. twitter ''war'' between u and Dave? And what's the meaning of life?! ;P Jess (UK) xx

mshinoda says to (12:48):
I am winning. And the Meaning of Life is a Monty Python movie

JanekZech says to mshinoda (12:47):
Hey Mike, what can you tell us about the Xero song ?Pictureboard?? Have you ever recorded it? If so, could we LPU members download it or sth? Thanks!

mshinoda says to (12:48):
Pictureboard is a song. I've never seen it online
mshinoda says to (12:49):
I'm pretty sure it's not out there
mshinoda says to (12:49):
We have a bunch of songs that aren't out there, though

Kirenji says to (12:49):
Hi Mike. Will you make another Fort Minor album or do you prefer concentrate on art and LP ? Hello from France and thanks for all that you do with LP, it has changed the life of many people

mshinoda says to (12:49):
FM ideas ------> LP ideas
mshinoda says to (12:49):
hmmm
mshinoda says to (12:49):
LP ideas = LP ideas

darknessovrme says to (12:50):
=P

KATHYxx says to (12:49):
Mike, in regards to the website updates you just mentioned, is it a facelift, new functionality added, or are bugs getting fixed finally? Are we polled on this?

mshinoda says to (12:50):
Website: we're reworking the look and simplifying the overall structure. But I've also been trying to get them to simplify the sign-in procedure. Clicking thru 10 pages to make a comment or post on the MB is silly

LinkinSoldierLP says to (12:50):
Hey Mike. In Frat Party at the Pankake Festival, I saw for the first time the Linkin Park Skateboard. Do you know where can i found it or is this limited? Thanks and you're great. =)

mshinoda says to (12:51):
skateboard: that one is really old. Ebay?

LP713 says to (12:50):
do you think yall will ever let a fan go up and play a song with you guys again?(on guitar) and i don't know if i am supposed to post another question since mine already got answered before...if not..sorry

mshinoda says to (12:51):
I like having fans play on stage with us, especially when they're good

linkingabo says to mshinoda (12:51):
Have you ever thought about re-recording the songs from the Xero tape with Chester's voice and release them (maybe on LPU CDs)? ....greetings from Slovakia

mshinoda says to (12:51):
Re-recording xero songs? why, wouldn't you rather have a new LP album?

MaryBing says to (12:52):
Is there something that the crowd does at conserts that makes you really love your job?

mshinoda says to (12:54):
The crowds at the show: being there is enough. our shows are a blast

mshinoda says to (12:53):
guys, don't PM me. I would love to answer all the ?s, but you have to respect the people when its their turn
mshinoda says to (12:53):
thanks tho

MajiksMonster says to (12:55):
Mike, were any of the art peices at your show benefiting any charities, excluding Music For Relief?

mshinoda says to (12:56):
I donate all my art $ to charity. MFR, Art Center College of Design, japanese American National Museum in general

moniLain says to (12:55):
Hey Mike, will you have more rap parts on the next [LP] album than on MTM ? Greetings from Germany, Mona

mshinoda says to (12:55):

there was a ? about the song "lockjaw" -- i think it was kinda a step along the way. the new stuff has some of that post modern / post rock feel, but again, I don't know what will end up on the album

mshinoda says to (12:56):
more rapping: possibly

Nemi says to mshinoda (12:56):
Hey Mike! I love the movie Frat Party at the Pankake Festival. Will you guys do a movie like that again? love from Norway !!

mshinoda says to (12:57):
Frat Party: I think our LPTV episodes have kinda taken that over...maybe we should put all the LPTV episodes together on a DVD. Then again, why do that when you can just watch them here for free?

NoFace says to (12:58):
Mike, how does the creative process go in a genius-mind like yours? Everything starts with some long planned ideas in your head or just flows out of your hands- stream of consciousness style? Say one true thing about Dave that can scare off the fans.

mshinoda says to (12:58):
genius - LOL
mshinoda says to (12:59):
I'd say more stream of consciousness at first, to get the good ideas down. Then a more conscious, deliberate mode, to organize the ideas and add more thoughtful stuff. True for music or painting, usually

Orangefish says to (12:59):
Mike, what means the Japanese writing on top of your blog? Greetings from Germany, Denise. P.S: I'm on Team Shinoda. LOL.

mshinoda says to (13:00):
japanese: google it

darknessovrme says to (12:59):

darknessovrme says to (13:00):
irah is singing 26 lettaz next time

phill715 says to (13:00):
Hey Mike, when you released lockjaw to the LPU, there was a lot of arguement over whether or not to share the song, and those who did were pretty much hated by their fellow LPUers for sharing an LPU exclusive song. What is your stance on sharing music?

mshinoda says to (13:01):
music sharing: i've commented on this before. you'll have to go look thru my other comments (preferrably the most recent ones) to clear anything up

Raiden says to (13:01):
Mike! What can you tell us about the upcoming LP apps for iPhone/iPod touch?

mshinoda says to (13:03):
LP app for iPhone is coming along! A little slower than I had hoped, but it looks good. I think it will be an RPG style thing. It'll be slightly dark, but with a sense of humor.

ressk says to (13:01):
Hey Mike, about the war between you and Phoenix, how are you gonna destroy Phoenix once and for all?

mshinoda says to (12:59):
Dave...
mshinoda says to (13:00):
is actually a cannibal. if you talk to him, or you're a fan of him, he will consume your flesh.
mshinoda says to (13:04):
I will destroy Phoenix with a lazer beam of pure awesomeness

pegasusrocks says to (13:04):
:D

Tuire says to (13:03):
What is the best song to perform? what makes you always to a good mood.. or do you have bad days at all? (lol)

mshinoda says to (13:05):
best song to perform: usually "gimme shelter"

spoiled_suk says to mshinoda (13:03):
mike! what is your favorite dead by sunrise
song? will you be featured in any dead by sunrise shows?

i play drums

mshinoda says to (13:05):
LOL

Sepol says to (13:05):
With the 4th album, you'll have a lot more songs to pick for your setlists; will you play longer shows, or just be more selective about the songs you play live? maybe bring dome oldies (Step Up, With You) back? Thanks for being here, mmuch love from Portug

mshinoda says to (13:06):
shows: we'll see how the set list looks once we have some new songs. first things first

tinkerbella25 says to (13:06):
Mike, your DC shoes are rather manly, will you design shoes that are rather girly??? pink and black?

mshinoda says to (13:06):
DC shoes: I'm not designing any more DC shoes. time to move on
mshinoda says to (13:06):
SURU one is the last
mshinoda says to (13:07):
Maybe I'll design a shoe with lego. They'll be a little hard to break in, but they'll look good

Waiting4thesun says to (13:07):
Hi mike! Why did u choose neon green? It's my favorite color and it's really hard for me to use a different color... ahahah... You're great! Thanx for everything Ale (Italy)

mshinoda says to (13:07):
you can have neon green back when i leave

yanying says to (13:08):
Mike, have you ever thought of starting your own clothing line? Thanks.

mshinoda says to (13:09):
fashion is a fast-paced, fickle, stressful world. I'm not interested!

Yahali says to (13:08):
what do you feel when you listen to yourself rapping/singing on lp records? is it weird?

mshinoda says to (13:09):
I don't listen to myself often. Even if it comes on the radio, I usually turn it off
mshinoda says to (13:09):
I listen a lot when I'm writing a song though

yigit says to (13:09):
Hey Mike. are you working on a new stage design for linkin park?

mshinoda says to (13:10):
New stage design: yes.

zara19 says to (13:10):
Being a perfectionist do you ever throw away any art you?ve done that you?re not happy with? Tell us a joke, thanks Zara

mshinoda says to (13:11):
art: I try not to get back into critical mode on anything I've "finished" because I will ALWAYS find something wrong with it

mshinoda says to (13:10):

It looks like we went thru everyone once. Thanks for coming to the chat!

pegasusrocks says to (13:10):
